A new chapter

So clearly blogging my family portrait sessions has not been at the top of my to-do list.  I could very easily say that I am so busy, blah, blah, blah but in all reality that is just an excuse and we have become a society that likes to glamorize busy.  The truth of the matter is, I lost my words.  For those people that know me, well …. even those that have just met me, you know that I always have something to say and I am not afraid of saying it.  So, you can imagine my shock when I sat down, almost one year ago to write this blog post and nothing came out.  I knew what I wanted to say but nothing came through my fingers to the keyboard.  I decided to sit on it and that leads me to today, almost one year later.

This wonderful woman received one of my gift vouchers several years back which she carefully tucked away.  We would run into each other around town and I would suggest we get her portrait session on the calendar.  “It doesn’t feel like the right time” she would say.   As a professional photographer, I hear lots of reasons for not booking right away but this one had me at “ok?, call me when you are ready?”.

The time finally “felt” right, she called and we got her session on the calendar.  I learned that her family had gone through a major transition and they we just coming out the other side.  Her session with her son was just one of a few steps in the first chapter of their new lives.  These portraits were not scarred with the past but rather a fresh start to their new beginning.

The beginning of the their happily ever after.
