The love of school photos

When I first considered doing “school” photos I never in my wildest dreams thought it would turn into a love.  I mean really, they are just school photos.  This is my 6th year doing them and I look forward to them every September.  Yes, they are a lot of work.  Yes, there is the pressure of editing thousands of photos and delivering to parents before Christmas.  Why is it all worth it……

Let me tell you!  The fact that parents are actually sending out school photos as Christmas gifts to Aunties, Uncles, Grandma and Grandpa is awesome.  I love knowing that parents are actually sharing their child’s photo rather than stuffing them in a box of their yearly school mementos only to be brought out prior to their wedding so we can mock them as tiny, awkward people.  Our school photos are displayed proudly on walls, tucked in wallets and shared with love ones.

I also love seeing my tiny clients year after year and witnessing their growth.  I get to see them lose teeth and gain an extra freckle or two.  I love learning their personalities.  I have moody kids, smiley kids, grumpy kids, solemn kids, the class clown and many in-between.  We let our kids be kids.  Capturing who they are today!

As excited as our parents get when we announce our school photo days, just know I am equally as excited!
