Naomi’s Journey of Resilience and TransformationNaomi’s Journey of Resilience | 40 Over 40 Portrait Campaign – Williams Lake BCNaomi’s Journey of Resilience and Transformation

40 Over 40 Portrait Campaign in Williams Lake, BC

This is a story of resilience and transformation. Life has a way of testing even the strongest souls. For Naomi, those tests came in waves—unexpected, unfair, and at times, seemingly insurmountable. Yet here she is, seated with quiet confidence and a smile that carries both courage and grace. Her journey isn’t defined by what was lost, but by everything she continues to rise above.

When Naomi describes herself as a “Self-Diagnosed Google Doctor,” it’s her humour shining through—sarcasm wrapped in strength. That humour has been her armour, her language of love, her way of coping with the unthinkable. Because in truth, she’s lived through chapters that would break most. But Naomi doesn’t just survive; she reinvents.

Celebrating Strength and Self-Love After 40

After two grueling years filled with medical challenges, pain, and transformation, Naomi decided to take part in the Unstoppable 40 Over 40 Project. “After the last two years, I needed a new beginning,” she says. “And I had no choice—Thelma and Louise kidnapped me.” Her best friends, Michelle and Dana, insisted she take this leap. It was less about photos and more about reclaiming herself—a celebration of the woman who had endured the storm and still had laughter in her bones.

For Naomi, beauty is no longer something to be proven to anyone else. A few weeks before her photoshoot, she got a spray tan, put on her lashes, slipped into a dress, and spent the evening entirely alone. “Didn’t go anywhere, didn’t see anyone—it was strictly a date for me, myself and I,” she recalls. “Sometimes you don’t need an audience to feel like a bombshell, darling. Beauty is a vibe.”

And that’s exactly what her portrait embodies—a vibe of raw honesty, strength, and freedom.

Why Portraits Matter for Women Over 40

Naomi laughs as she reflects on the questions she’s heard from others: “Why are you doing this? You’re over 50! Aren’t you too old?” Her answer? “Age is a number—my attitude is ageless.” That spark, that unfiltered confidence, radiates through every inch of her being.

She shares one final piece of advice that could only come from someone who’s walked through fire and still found a way to laugh:

“Listen to your body. Listen to your friends and family—because they’ll see things you don’t. Be open to the idea of Depends. They’re your friend. And always, always laugh.”

Through loss, through healing, through finding light again, Naomi’s story reminds us all that resilience isn’t just about getting back up—it’s about doing it with humor, grace, and a wink at the universe.

To every woman who feels like she’s been dealt the worst cards, let Naomi’s journey of resilience and transformation be your reminder: you can still choose to play the game—with strength, laughter, and lashes intact.
