Well 2021, that was fun | Williams Lake Photographer

This past year was really, really, REALLY tough. Because of that, I took a bit of a step back from work. I had no drive. I had no creativity. I had no motivation.

This past year held me down like a cinder block attached to a mafia traitor. When New Year’s Eve hit, I started thinking about my year end post. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to be able to come up with 21 of my favourite photos from the year. It was a little tough but I managed to find 21!

By taking the time to look over this past, ugly, year – I was able to find small, snipets of good. These tiny snipets shed light on the darkness making it…well…. a little less dark.

The biggest take away from this past year is how incredibly priceless photographs are. Of all the treasures we think we hold dear to our heart, the stuff we accumulate through life, the things we spend our money on… at the end of the day these things do not even measure up to that little piece of paper that has the image of your loved one on it.

We don’t like to think about the day when the only place your loved one will exist is in your head and on that tiny piece of paper, but unfortunately, that day comes.

This is something I have preached but until you really experience it, it can fall on deaf ears. Mine included. Sadly, it is a lesson that once you learn it, it is too late to do anything about.

So my advice, find a photographer you love. No matter the cost, make it happen. Get those family photographs done. We think nothing of spending money on that new couch, that may only last you 10 years. Photographs of your loved ones will last you forever and will mean more to you than that couch!!

Here is to a brighter 2022!
